Papua New Guinea GMDSS project
Dunstan and Associates and our local partner company TE PNG have been awarded a contract to upgrade Papua New Guinea's (PNG) marine radio infrastructure to comply with the GMDSS.
HF radio receive site at Jackson's Airport, Port Moresby
The project provides:

Upgrade of PNGs main Coast Radio Station, Port Moresby Radio/P2M to GMDSS A3 standard, with a local coverage A1 (VHF) service covering Port Moresby harbour;

Upgrade of Port Moresby Radio's manual radiotelephone services to provide distress and safety coverage for non-SOLAS vessels on 4-12 MHz.

Upgrade of the GMDSS training facilities at PNG's Maritime College in Madang;

Upgrade of the PNG Rescue Coordination Centre (new databases, EGC broadcast capability, etc);

Re-write of PNG marine radio legislation (radio carriage requirements) for non-SOLAS (local trading) vessels; and

Training of Marine Radio Surveyors, Coast Station and RCC staff.
